Overview

At the 1995 NAMM show thousands of players, media and dealers crammed into a small demo room inside the Peavey exhibit, one after another, where our engineers set up a blind A/B comparison between their new invention and a real tube amp. No one could tell the difference between the two. Some "golden ears" even thought the TransTube Bandit was the real tube amp. But How? In devising the TransTube Circuitry, our engineers studied every aspect of how a tube amp works. We learned that recreating tube tone isn't merely a question of gain structure. It's about the entire component chain and how each one interacts with the others. It's about damping factor and the corresponding speaker response. It's about power amp compression. How the amp breaks up when driven hard, harmonic structure and non-linear gain stages. It's about cabinet size, bracing, wood and thickness. But most importantly, it's about what it's not. Those other manufacturers' half-hearted attempt at tube emulation failed because they focused on the wrong elements. So we concentrated on emulating the tone characteristics we all recognize and love about tubes and 86'd the rest. It's a deceptively simple concept, but it took three U.S. Patents to map the entire process for the history books. Set up a comparison at your Peavey dealer and discover the TransTube difference for yourself. No marketing hype needed. You won't believe your ears!

Front Panel Features:

(1.) HIGH GAIN INPUT- Used for most electric guitars. The High Gain Input is 6 dB louder than the Low Gain Input (2).

(2) LOW GAIN INPUT - Provided for instruments with extremely high outputs, which can result in overdriving (distorting) the  High Gain Input (1). If both inputs are used simultaneously, their levels are both Low Gain

(3) VOLUME - This control sets the volume level for the Clean channel.

(4) VINTAGE/CLASSIC/WARM SWITCH - The CLASSIC position maintains a standard voicing. The VINTAGE position changes the overall function  of the EQ and adds a hint of brightness to emulate classic amp designs

(5) CLEAN EQ - These passive tone controls regulate the low, mid, and high frequencies of the Clean channel.

(6) CHANNEL SELECT SWITCH - The Channel Select Switch determines which channel, LEAD or CLEAN, is active. This switch must be in the “LEAD” position in order for the footswitch to function.

(7) PRE GAIN - The Pre Gain controls the input volume level of the Lead channel.

(8) CLASSIC/MODERN/HIGH GAIN – SWITCH - This switch changes both the gain and voicing of the Lead channel.

(9) LEAD EQ - These passive tone controls regulate the low, mid, and high frequencies of the Lead channel.

(10) POST GAIN - Use this control to set the overall level of the Lead channel once your tone has been achieved.

(11) REVERB - The Reverb control adjusts the overall reverb level.

(12) VOLUME BOOST – This knob functions as a limited master volume control without the footswitch

(13) POWER LED – This LED illuminates the amp is on

(14) POWER SWITCH - To apply power to the unit, press the switch to the "on" position. The LED (13) will illuminate, indicating  power is being supplied

(15) AC POWER INLET (Power Cord Located Under Chassis) - This is the receptacle for an IEC line cord, which provides AC power to the unit

(17) SPEAKER SIMULTAED DIRECT OUTPUT – The signal produced in this convenient ¼” direct output jack is specifically voiced to accurately simulate speaker cabinet response
