An econoCom system consists of...

1) a PS-4 System Interface.
The PS-4 Intercom System Interface provides precise voltage regulation, further smoothing of the DC current (AC hum elimination), automatic overload/ short-circuit protection, the necessary termination network for the intercom circuit. It features an LED indicator which indicates that 24VDC is being delivered, and 3 paralled XLR jacks for connection of Â headset stations or strings of stations in party-line configuration.
1.1) A table-top AD2410 AC/DC adaptor with removable IEC power cord and captive DC output cable and connector that connects it to the PS-4 System Interface.

The AD2410 AC/DC Adaptor provides up to 1.0A of current at a nominal 24VDC. It is UL, CE and CSA approved. It has universal input, operating at any voltage from 100 to 240VAC at either 50 or 60Hz.

The combination of the PS4 and the AD2410 AC/DC adaptor maker up the power supply for our econoCom systems. They can also be used to power a small system of your own design. Though switch-mode AC/DC adaptors are inherently noisy in audio circuits, we select them carefully and test every batch for excessive noise. Even a make and model from the same manufacturer will often fail those tests as quality control in the best of these devices is often poor. The PS4 contains large smoothing capacitors and a regulator to prevent the system from trying to pull more current from the AD2410 than it can provide without excessive heat and noise. The necessary termination circuit for the intercom audio is also part of the PS4. The line cord for the AD2410 is included. It can operate on any line voltage from 90 to 240VAC

2) Also included are two to five of our standard, full featured BP-1 beltpacks.

Features:

Performance: The BP-1 portable headset station may be worn on the belt or hung on the wall by its sturdy belt-clip. Soft plastic strips on the underside help hold it in place when set on top of a console. The matte black finish minimizes visibility.
Durability: The ribbed, extruded aluminum case; glass-filled nylon end bezels; internal support system for the PC board; best-quality XLR-type connectors, and; recessed controls, all contribute to the outstanding ability of the BP-1 to withstand rough usage.
Value: The comparatively low price of the BP-1 is made possible by the minimized assembly cost resulting from simplicity of construction. Simple construction also affords the use of higher quality components, and increases the ease (thus lowering the cost) of servicing.
Compatibility: The BP-1 is plug-in compatible with Clear-Com® and other popular headset intercom systems

Frequency response has been carefully shaped to optimize both intelligibility and long-term listening comfort. A mic. limiter circuit reduces overload distortion. The high bridging impedance ensures that system and sidetone levels do not vary as other stations are switched in and out of the circuit.

The most recent change was to add switch on the rear to allow the use of modern headsets with electret microphones.
It has resisted every effort to destroy it either accidentally or deliberately.Its operation is simple and very intuitive.

3) a headset, with connector, for each beltpack.

This light, comfortable headset is equipped with high quality transducers for smooth response and pleasant listening. The soft, textured muff is removable and washable. The mechanism for adjusting size allows for a wide range and is both simple and sturdy. The microphone is mounted on a thin flexible gooseneck boom which also swivels at the ear cup and can be swung up and out of the way. This boom also allows the microphone to be adjusted very close to the mouth for situations where quiet or discrete communications are important. The thin, flexible cable does not tug on the headset and may be clipped out of the way with our optional clothing clip.

The SMH310 has a minimal number of moving parts to wear or break. The unique cable can be unplugged from the headset and replaced in seconds. This feature is so well concealed that no one is likely to know about it unless you choose to tell them. The other major components are easily field replaceable as well.

The SMH310 is plug-in compatible with Clear-Com® and most other popular headset communications systems. Connectors are added at the time of sale to match your system’s requirements.
