How Does Equalization Work?
Imagine the audio frequency range as a very wide highway with lots of “lanes”. Each of these lanes represents a specific frequency band.
- The lanes on the left side contain the really low frequency content, mainly bass, bass vocals, and the kick and tom drums
- The middle lanes make up the fundamental zone of most musical instruments and the male and female vocals
- The right-hand lanes have all the high-frequency stuff, such as snare drums, cymbals, higher pitched percussion instruments and the content that adds sizzle to the mix
Special Tools for Low Frequencies
The low-frequency sound range requires special attention. That’s why the FBQ-PRO Series features a Low Cut filter, in addition to the frequency faders, to help remove unwanted low frequencies such as floor rumble, room resonance, electrical hum, etc. This filter is preset on the FBQ1502 to remove all content below 25 Hz, which can really eat into your power amp’s headroom. On the FBQ3120 and FBQ6200 models we take it a step further, including variable High- and Low-Cut filters per channel with a sweepable frequency dial for even more control.Crossover Not Required
Speaking of special low-frequency tools, all three FBQ-PRO models feature a dedicated subwoofer output with an adjustable (30 – 200 Hz) cut-off frequency. CONTROL ELEMENTS AND CONNECTORS
1.) The INPUT/OUTPUT LEVEL METER lets you keep an eye on the signal level in order to avoid distortion.
2.) The I/O METER IN/OUT switch lets you alternate between displaying the input and the output signal level.When the switch is depressed ,the output signal level is shown.
3.)When you press the FBQ switch,the FBQ feedback detection system is activated.The frequency that evoke feedback is/are indicated by means of a lighted fader LED.
4.)The AUDIO IN/OUT switch is used to enable or disable the entire equalizer section.
5.)The INPUT control is used to adjust the input signal level.You can boosts/attenuate the signal level from +15 to -15 dB.
6.)The LOW CUT Control is used to adjust the lower cut-off frequency of your ULTRAGRAPH PRO.The high-pass filter covers the range between 10 and 400 Hz,whereby the filter lets the signal pass through unprocessed,when the control is in the 10 Hz position.
7.)The HIGH CUT control is used to adjust the upper cut-off frequency of your ULTRAGRAPH PRO.The low-pass filter covers the range between 2.5 and 30 kHz,whereby the filter lets the signal pass through unprocessed when the cotrol is in the 30 kHz position.
8.)The RANGE switch lets you alternate between the maximum value of lowering/increasing of individual frequencies from 12 dB to 6dB.
9.)These are the 31 SLIDING CONTROLS .for individual frequency bands.When in "0" position,the particular frequency range is not processed at all.
10.)The POWER switch powers up your ULTRAGRAPH PRO.
11.)The connection to the mains is done via a standard IEC connector.
12.)FUSE COMPARTMENT/VOLTAGE SELECTION.Before connecting the unit to a power outlet ,please make sure that the selected voltage matches your local voltage.
13.)SERIAL NUMBER.
14.)INPUT.These are the audio inputs of the FBQ3102.All three equalizers in the series feature the same input and output connectors in the form of balanced 1/4" TRS and XLR connectors.
15.)OUTPUT.These are the audio outputs.The 1/4" connectors and their respective XLR connectors are wired in parallel.
16.)SUB OUT.This balanced XLR connector provides the output signal for your subwoofer.
17.)Use the X-OVER FREQ control to select the desired crossover frequency for the subwoofer.
