Overview:

(HDMI) stands for High-Definition Multimedia Interface. An HDMI splitter allows compressed and uncompressed data to be transferred between a source to where it is either seen or heard, for example, a television or digital stereo unit. HDMI is used instead of analog data. It is most often used with HDTV, as well as cameras and video recorders. There are HDMI splitters that have been produced by the major electronics companies which can be used with computers, Blu-Ray, and DVD players, as well as tablet computers and phones.
