Overview

The RODE SMARTLAV+ is a broadcast-grade wearable microphonedesigned for use in a wide range of film, television and broadcast scenarios,or wherever broadcast quality audio is required in a discreet, portable formatwithout the complication and expense of additional wireless equipment.

  • With the smartLav+ the user simply mounts the microphone onthe talent, connects it to a smartphone or tablet headset jack and records viathe RØDE Rec app for iOS, or any other audio app of their choice.
  • By employing a professional quality omni-directionalcondenser capsule the smartLav+ picks up sound equally from all around themicrophone, allowing for versatility when mounting and ensuring a high degreeof user-friendly operation.
  • A foam pop shield is supplied to minimise wind noise andvocal plosives (hard ‘b’, ‘t’ and ‘p’ sounds), as well as a durable mountingclip with in-built cable management. Its Kevlar® reinforced cable ensures thatyou never stretch or snap your microphone under normal usage conditions.
  • The smartLav+ is compatible with any audio app that acceptsinput from the headset connection, however it has been designed to pairperfectly with RØDE’s RØDE Rec app for Apple iOS devices. RØDE Rec turns theuser’s iOS device into a fully-featured field recorder, with a wide range ofequalisation presets to suit various recording situations, in addition toprofessional editing functions and the ability to publish to SoundCloud andDropbox direct from the app.

How to use the mount:

  •  Insert the mic capsule into the wire loop.
  • Loosely loop the cord back up and through the inside of the clip.
  • Loop the cord back down and secure it in the cable management clip.
  • This arrangement helps to minimize handling and mechanical noise and also minimizes cable strain .

Mounting Mic on Clothing:


Attach the mic to lapel or clothing,about 15-20cm /6 inches from face.

Pro tip: Tape a loose loop in the mic cord on the inside of clothing.This gives you added strain relief and isolation from unwanted noise.
