Peavey PV 118D

18-inch Active Subwoofer (1 pc)

Overview:

The Peavey PV 118D Active 18" Subwoofer features 300 watts of continuous power, 600 watts of peak available power and DDT compression. The heavy duty 18" woofer has a balanced XLR input and a balanced XLR output. The XLR out is switchable between Thru and High Pass Filter modes, allowing it to forward a signal to a full-range speaker. The PV 118D also has a 1/4" speaker-level input and volume level control.

The PV 118D is Class D powered and capable of up to 119 dB peak SPL. The enclosure is made from 3/4" MDF, with a powder coated steel grille. A woofer servo senses back-EMF from the woofer voice coil that is not a result of the drive signal, and subtracts the error so that the woofer cone follows the drive waveform precisely. Two Class D power amplifiers provide 300 watts peak available power each into the dual voice-coil woofer yielding 600 watts total into the 8Ω load of each voice coil of the woofer. Both amplifiers feature Peavey DDT power amplifier compression, which greatly diminishes audible power amplifier clipping.

Metal handles provide easy transport, while the top pole mount provides stability for full-range speakers. In the event of ground-loop hum between connected equipment, the PV 118D also features a ground-lift switch.
